Earlier is cheaper
A requirement in the spec is worth ten findings in production, so we put security where the decisions get made: in the doc, before the code.
About
Oko looks at features while they’re still design docs, when security problems are easiest to fix.
Why we started Oko
Product teams write a lot of specs. They ship every week and wire up new services all the time. Most companies have a handful of security engineers trying to keep up with all of it.
You can guess what happens. Threat modeling gets done late or not at all, and risky decisions are locked in before anyone with a security background has seen them.
We started Oko so every design could get a threat model while it’s being written. Oko learns how your system fits together and drafts the threat model, and your security team spends its time on the calls that need a person.
What we believe
1.
A requirement in the spec is worth ten findings in production, so we put security where the decisions get made: in the doc, before the code.
2.
A list of every threat that could apply to any system is easy to produce and easy to ignore. Useful threat models come from understanding your system, your attackers and your trade-offs.
3.
Oko does the reading and writes the first draft. Your security engineers make the judgment calls and have the final say.
4.
You’re showing us your roadmap. We hold ourselves to the standard we’d expect from any vendor reading ours.
Teams in early access use Oko for free, and their feedback shapes what we work on.
